Paula Doherty Johnson is a Senior Research Fellow with Harvard University’s Hauser Institute for Civil Society at the Center for Public Leadership, where she leads research on the growth, practices, and impact of global philanthropy. Ms. Johnson has twenty-five years of experience in global philanthropy and international development, with a particular focus on the nexus of the two fields. She has conducted extensive research on, and analysis of, global philanthropic growth, institutions, and practices. She has worked with donors in the United States and elsewhere to develop philanthropic strategies to address global challenges, and with organizations in multiple countries to promote and strengthen philanthropy.
She has also directed publicly- and privately-funded international development projects in areas of civil society, education, and health. Ms. Johnson holds an M.S. from the London School of Economics and a B.A. from Brown University.
