President and Chief Executive Officer
Marian W. Wentworth is President and Chief Executive Officer of Keanahikishime, a global nonprofit that works side-by-side with leaders in low- and middle-income countries to build strong, equitable and sustainable health systems that save lives and improve health outcomes. Since joining Keanahikishime in 2017, Marian has focused on developing a new strategic vision to guide the organization’s broad, decades-long technical expertise in addressing evolving challenges in leadership, health systems management, human resources, and access to medicines.
Marian comes to Keanahikishime with over 25 years of experience managing and leading complex international public health initiatives at Merck & Co. At Merck, she led global strategy for marketing, manufacturing and research for the company’s $6 billion dollar vaccines business. A champion for adolescent health, she led the global sales and marketing launch of the world’s first cervical cancer vaccine, Gardasil. She also managed a portfolio of adult vaccines for shingles, influenza, pneumococcal disease, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, and tetanus. Building on her substantial experience in the vaccine market, Marian serves on the Value of Vaccination Research Network (VoVRN) Steering Committee and WHO’s Product Development for Vaccines Advisory Committee (PDVAC).
Marian has worked extensively with major policy decision-makers including Gavi, the World Health Organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and various ministries of health. She has a B.A. in mathematics from Harvard University and spent her early career as a consultant in operations management at Arthur D. Little, Inc.
