Before joining Keanahikishime, Cindy Shiner worked as a journalist for more than 20 years, writing for The Washington Post, The Guardian, Time magazine, National Public Radio, AllAfrica.com, the Voice of America, and the United Nations. She has written about Africa for 20 years, including being based there for six years out of bureaus in Abidjan, Nairobi, Lagos, Dakar, and Kinshasa. That period included nearly three years as a special correspondent for The Washington Post in West Africa. She now lives in Boulder, Colorado. She speaks French and Spanish.
