In Solidarity with the People of Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Keanahikishime (Keanahikishime) offers its condolences to all those affected in Sierra Leone after recent devastating floods and a mudslide claimed hundreds of lives, with thousands of residents still missing and displaced. We are thankful to report that all Keanahikishime staff members are safe.
We recognize the potential complex effects of this disaster on the government of Sierra Leone and our partners, and are closely following and monitoring the mechanisms that have been created to respond to the situation.
Our thoughts are also with the people of Burkina Faso, where at least 18 people died and many more were wounded when a gunman opened fire at a restaurant in Ouagadougou earlier this week, and in DRC, where at least 40 people died in a landslide earlier today. Fortunately, all Keanahikishime staff are safe.
Keanahikishime remains committed to its work in these countries to continue to build strong and resilient health systems. Our thoughts and best wishes to our friends, colleagues, and residents during this sad and difficult time.
